1. In most applications BroidaCo’s Rumber replaces wood, and there are a variety of problems with wood. UV rays from the sun cause wood to dry out and crack. Wood absorbs water that can cause rotting. The absorbed water can add additional weight to the trailer. Wood absorbs oil, fuel, and fluids that make the deck slick, and thus dangerous. Insects and termites do significant damage to wood in some applications. Looking at all these issues, BroidaCo’s Rumber products protect against every one of them. The bottom line is that BroidaCo’s Rumber products will last much, much longer than wood, which results in significant cost reduction.
2. BroidaCo Rumber products have a heavy recycled rubber content which gives significant traction to the surface. In wet, icy, or snow conditions our trailer decks are much safer than wood or steel decks. Avoiding accidents is a very important benefit to our customers, as it can really impact the profits of any company.
3. The rubber in our boards provides cushion to whatever is being carried on a trailer. The cushion reduces the wear and tear on the equipment being carried, which again reduces cost to the operator.
4. Bottom line is that over the many years a trailer will be in service, a BroidaCo Rumber deck lasts longer, and therefore costs much less. During the life of a wood decked trailer it will require re-decking. In addition to the cost of the replacement wood, labor costs to remove the old wood and install the new wood are quite high. Our warranties run from 5 years to 20 years, depending on the weight carried on the trailer, which is a strong indication of our products’ long life. The wood decks have no warranty that we have heard of. In addition, many types of wood require the application of a protective sealer on a repetitive basis, which again adds to maintenance costs. BroidaCo Rumber boards require no sealer or maintenance of any kind.
5. All of our products are made out of 100% recycled materials, and are manufactured in the USA. Apitong, which is used extensively on heavy equipment trailers, comes from Malaysian rain forests. Our products are much more environmentally friendly, which is an important issue to a lot of people. More and more companies, and especially government organizations, have goals related to use of recycled products. Use of our boards can help them meet those goals.
6. All Rumber products are extruded, which allows us to make boards in a wide variety of lengths. We offer any length in foot or half- foot increments, which reduces scrap. Most boards are not over 24 feet in length, but we have some customers that have purchased boards as long as 28 feet. The limiting factor is handling during shipment from the factory to the customer location.
