Installation Guideline
- We have two pages of installation guidelines, which should be included with this aid. We have a wide variety of board thicknesses and widths that are listed in the Product List. The Guideline sheets have all of the different types of applications, such as heavy equipment, truck bed, etc. The most important issue is that the cross supports are close enough to provide sufficient support for the boards. The cross support spacing is directly related to the weight carried on the trailer, and is listed on both installation guideline sheets. If you have any doubts as to the proper cross support spacing, contact your BroidaCo representative. We do have a solution for trailers with cross supports that are further apart than what we require. This solution is detailed in the catalog page entitled “T-rail flooring system”.
- When re-decking a wood decked trailer, you need to know how thick the existing wood is, what is the trailer weight rating, and cross member spacing.
- A rough cut saw blade, or a Rumber saw blade is required to cut our boards. In addition, WD-40 or a mixture of real soapy water in a spray bottle will lubricate the blade making cutting much easier.
- A gap of 3/16 to ½ inch needs to be left between the end of the board and the steel frame of the trailer. This allows for expansion of the board in hot temperatures.
- Any bolts or screws that are used on wood decks can be used on Rumber decks. Counter sink the screw or bolt to get it down below the surface of the board.
- Rumber Sheet Products have an individual page in the catalog that covers installation. It is most important to know that the sheets have a very low rubber content, so they will expand and shrink much more than the boards. Never use adhesive to attach these sheets to a surface! Use screws or pop rivets with holes in the sheet that are larger than the fastening device. This will allow the sheet to move during expansion and contraction. The rubber content in the sheets allow for them to function in extremely cold temperatures without shattering from being hit.
